7 Steps to Brexit your Money

On January 31st 2020, the UK made history and left the EU. Whether you supported this move or not there are things we can learn about this move and how it actually came to pass that we can use to accomplish our audiacious financial goals.

Now this is not a political post, it was actually inspired by my IG friend Benedicta and I am purely sharing how you too can succeed at anything you put your mind to.

As they say, “ Success leaves clues”... so here we go...

Here are my top 7 Brexit lessons that can be applied to your Money Goals

  1. When things don’t go to plan, be flexible.

Look, it took the UK 4 years to leave the EU instead of the initial 2 years. Not many great things have ever gone according to the plan.  So when setting new financial goals, things may not always go according to your plan, it might sometimes take longer to reach them than you expect. Remember to give yourself some grace, detours are expected, just remain flexible. There's no such thing as failure as long as you don’t give up.

2. If you don’t like it change it.

You are not forced to remain with your current financial situation. If you don’t like it, no matter how long you have been stuck there, you can decide today to change it. The UK was a member of the EU for 47years before “Brexit”. You too can “Brexit’ living paycheck to paycheck, being unable to save, unable to invest for your pension years and any other situation in your life, health or relationships you don’t like. Whether you Exit or Remain it is a choice.

3. Freedom is sooo worth it.

You are worth it! If you desire financial freedom (or freedom from any other situation) you deserve it AND it is worth fighting for! YOU and your future are worth fighting for.

But You have to be ready to fight against so many external and internal forces that want you to remain stuck, broke and broken.

Many things, friends, frenemies, opinions, institutional biases, laws will attempt to slow you down… and you will have to fight the enemy within, the false lies, self-doubt, personal sabotage, procrastination, low self-esteem, lack of confidence, NetFlix… But your freedom is worth the fight!

4. It will Cost you something

Our Brexit bill was estimated at around £39 BILLION!

Your freedom won’t come cheap but pay the price anyway

Your freedom will cost time, invest the time anyway

Your freedom will take energy, invest the energy anyway

Your freedom will cost money, invest in yourself anyway

Your freedom will need like-minded friends, find your community anyway

The true cost is never an upfront figure, pay the price anyway

What you pay for today, you enjoy for the rest of your life.

And what you don’t pay for today, you spend the rest of your life paying for it in regret.

Financial freedom & financial lack both will cost you something, financial freedom is just way cheaper.

5. Hack your Motivation

You will get discouraged, but people are watching you… let that motivate you

Some People will want you to fail,... let that motivate you to win

Your people will need you to win… let that motivate you to show them how it's done.

Others just don’t think it's possible for “someone like you”... Nail that lie to the cross of calvary and WIN.

48% of British voters voted to remain, they wished for Brexit to fail, but the UK persevered in the face of great opposition.

6. It’s your Responsibility to Re-Evaluate and Review

Success leaves clues, but so does failure... if you aren’t getting the result you want it’s down to you. Take full responsibility for all your actions and your results and you will succeed 10x faster. Look within and see where you might be your own roadblock. The road to Brexit has seen 3 Prime Ministers, those that weren’t up to the job gracefully stepped out of the way so that as a county, the Brexit plan can progress.

When it comes to your finances, if you keep hitting roadblocks, take a step back and review your strategy. Seek help, mentorship and guidance to ensure you are on the right path.

7. Not everyone will support you, and that’s OK.

Some days you might not even support yourself, but make self-belief in your ability to achieve your goal so normal that everyone else will believe in you too!

Surround yourself with people who want the same things you want, change up your circle of close friends.
